Join our CESA 7 Team as a Learning Services Specialist, with an emphasis on EMLSS systems and Special Education Support!

As a Learning Services Specialist with an emphasis on EMLSS and Special Education, you will be responsible for planning, facilitating and coaching comprehensive, high-quality professional learning opportunities. In this role, the Learning Services Specialist job responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide training as well as ongoing coaching and support related to district and schoolwide teams supporting all students within an equitable, multi-level system of supports (EMLSS) framework; including but not limited to:

o   Collaborate with districts and schools to develop their internal capacity to sustain their change efforts.

o   Develop and deliver professional development sessions based on school/district need.

o   Collaborate with others at the Agency to increase their potential and their service area while improving your assigned service area.

o   Complies with all CESA 7 policy and administrative directives.

o   Maintains confidentiality of CESA 7 internal matters and complies with any legal confidentiality requirements regarding student information, health records, or other similar information.

o   Other duties assigned to support the agency

  • Develop and deliver professional development sessions on student academics and behavior to our schools,  districts, and at state and national conferences in relation to the EMLSS framework
  • Be a member of the EMLSS Project grant to support district and school teams with implementing and sustaining equitable, multi-level systems of support. As an EMLSS Coach you will participate in professional development, facilitate regional training, and provide ongoing coaching, support, and technical assistance. 
    Be a member of the comprehensive induction program to attract and retain Wisconsin’s new special educators. The induction program consists of three elements: Professional learning; coaching, and a support network. This position will fill the coaching and support network role within the program. This work will be within the context of the broader EMLSS best practices of school districts
  • Plan, organize, and facilitate high-quality professional development and coaching in the areas of curriculum, standards, assessment, and instruction and support for schools in addressing the needs of all students. 
  • Collaborate with others at the Agency to increase their potential and their service area while improving your assigned service area.

Your objective is to strengthen the capacity of our educators and make their work more fulfilling through professional development and coaching.
3. Be an expert on our services:  You must be naturally curious or have learned the skill of being curious to understand every action, feature, and possible use of our services.
4. Be passionate and relentless: Educators have some of the most stressful and demanding jobs in the world. They are responsible for the safety, well-being, and education of every student they serve. It’s a great honor to play a small part in helping them carry out their mission. That requires you to be passionate about helping them and relentless in pursuing their success. 
5. Learn how we think and be coachable: Our aim (and your aim) must be to take a CESA 7 approach to every interaction and look for ways to enhance our clients’ experience with us.
6. Have an aptitude for a challenge & a track record of success as demonstrated or have capacity in the following ways:

  • You are a visionary, innovative, and recognized leader in the area of providing a system of support for students with challenging behaviors and their impact on student academic and social development;
  • You have five years of successful experience as a leader in systems change. A degree in education, special education, school psychology, or social work is preferred. 
  • You have successful experience working in a variety of K-12 settings. 
  • You have managed your own workflow and schedule.
  • You enjoy and demonstrate remarkable communication and presentation skills
  • You are a creative problem solver with excellent decision-making acumen.
  • Leading professional development on student behaviors and/or academics to teams, schools, or districts
  • Utilizing data to inform instruction
