Specifically, this professional will hold a part-time position of Library Media Specialist (percentage determined by district need) for the 24-25 school year. This professional will ensure Common School Funds are properly utilized, ensure adequate materials are in the school libraries, manage software, and ensure the district has all the components of a high-functioning school library. 
 
The ideal candidate will be someone who can check the following boxes:
  1. Building relationships and systems: You will have to be effective with people and efficient with work processes. You think first about our customers' needs and interests and then design the framework for their success.
  2. Connect and lead conversations proactively: To service our clients well, you must be able to engage and inspire. In talking about a service, a system, or a strategy, you must be able to create excitement within a school about what they can accomplish when they leverage their unique strengths. Your objective is to strengthen the capacity of our educators and make their work more fulfilling through professional development and coaching.
  3. Be passionate and relentless: Educators have some of the most stressful and demanding jobs in the world. They are responsible for the safety, well-being, and education of every student served. It's a great honor to play a small part in helping them carry out their mission. That requires you to be passionate about helping them and to be relentless in the pursuit of their success.
  4. Have an aptitude for challenge & a track record of success as demonstrated in the following ways:
  • You have three years of successful experience as a literacy media specialist, a master's degree in library sciences and a 1902 license.
  • You have managed your own workflow and schedule.
  • You have successfully designed an effective budget and you can analyze and monitor financial information to ensure department budget goals are in alignment with agency goals.
  • You enjoy and demonstrate remarkable communication and presentation skills.
  • You are a creative problem solver with excellent decision-making skills.
  • You have an understanding of the DPI School Library Plan and can help a district ensure compliance.
