The math interventionist is responsible for supporting student achievement in math with special attention to Tier II and Tier III instruction. The math interventionist provides individual or small group instruction to students in Algebra, Geometry, and/or Algebra 2 who are struggling academically and have a demonstrated loss of grade level math development. This position is also responsible for monitoring, reporting, and communicating student progress and performance. The math interventionist will support the principal, the Dean of Instructional Innovation and classroom teachers in reviewing district and state assessment results to build instruction based on student needs. This position is a two-year position at Catholic Memorial High School. Essential Job Functions: • Provides high-quality math instruction to individual students and small groups. • Co-plans and co-teaches classes with students identified with math learning loss • Uses identified research-based interventions focused specifically on individual student needs. • Use data to provide instruction to students to increase their skills to grade-level expectations. • Administers formal and informal assessments to measure student learning needs and monitor progress over time. • Maintains data-based documentation of continuous monitoring of student performance and progress. • Collaborates with teachers, administration, and families to help identify best practices and schedules for individual and small groups of students. • Participates in meetings and communicates with teachers, administration, and families to discuss student placement and progress. • Provides data and collaborates with the student service team and department team members for the purpose of meeting individual student’s academic needs. • Assists with identifying students for placement in intervention groups • Attends the appropriate training to improve knowledge and skills. • Utilizes technology skills for record-keeping, data entry, data analysis, and communication Preferred Qualifications: Training in RTI, MTSS, evidence-based interventions, and progress monitoring tools such as MAP and/or other standardized assessment tools Knowledge of positive behavior supports that help increase student engagement and achievement. Must be able to work collaboratively with groups of parents, teachers, and students. Demonstrate an understanding of different levels of high school math courses Show the ability to create and maintain a safe, orderly environment that is conducive to learning. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in education or a related field from an accredited four-year college/university required. Appropriate teaching license with endorsements in math
